Newcastle NSW · repairs & new doors

The garage-door people who actually know steel.

A garage door is the biggest piece of moving steel bolted to your house. When the spring lets go or it jumps the track, you want someone who reads metal, tension and true tracks, not a call-centre. That's Foundry.

Not sure what's wrong? Run the Tension Check, two questions, a likely cause, the safe next step.

Two very different jobs

A snapped spring and a new door aren't the same call.

One's urgent and the car's trapped; the other's considered and worth measuring properly. Tell us which you're facing and we'll send it the right way.

Something's broken

What we work on

Springs, cables, tracks, openers, and the whole door.

The trade's real work, in the trade's real language. Here's the shortlist, the full run is on the services page.

All services

Broken spring repair

The number-one urgent fault. A snapped torsion spring drops the door and leaves it too heavy to lift, replaced with the right rated spring, never a bodge.

Off-track & rollers

Re-railing a door that's jumped its track, worn or seized rollers, and bent or misaligned track put back true.

Openers & motors

Openers that won't drive, intermittent motors, dead remotes and safety-beam faults. New openers too, the mains wiring by a licensed electrician.

Cables & rebalance

Snapped or frayed lift cables, and a door that's gone heavy or noisy re-tensioned and re-balanced before the spring lets go.

New sectional doors

The dominant modern door, insulated panels, wide double openings, measured and colour-matched to the house.

Salt-air hardware check

Near the coast, springs and cables corrode faster. We look over the whole hardware set, not just the part that failed.

The signature tool

Not sure what's wrong? Run the Tension Check.

Answer two quick questions, what the door's doing, and where in Newcastle it lives, and the mechanism diagram lights up the likely fault zone. You get a plain-language read and the safe next step, then a straight path to a call-out or a quote.

It reads the where & why. It never diagnoses a fix or quotes a price.

Run the Tension Check

One city, three door stories

Newcastle runs coast to bush, and so does what goes wrong.

Where a garage sits on that line changes the door, the hardware and the fault. It's the honest reason a Newcastle garage-door trade can't be one-size-fits-all.

The salt edge

Stockton, Merewether, Nobbys

Salt spray eats springs, cables, rollers and tracks faster than inland. Corroded hardware and earlier replacement are the real story here, galvanised and marine-grade parts earn their keep.

The inner ring

Mayfield, New Lambton, Hamilton

Established detached streets with a lot of ageing tilt and early roller doors. This is repair-vs-replace country, sometimes a spring, sometimes a good moment for a new door.

Mayfield & the inner ring →

The western estates

Fletcher, Cameron Park, Maryland

Newer near-all-detached estates against the bush fringe, double sectional doors fitted once and not touched for years. New installs, upgrades and second doors are the work out here.

Why "Foundry"

This city was built on steel. So is a garage door.

Newcastle spent a century casting, rolling and welding steel, the works, the port, a town of makers. A garage door lives or dies on the same things a foundry cares about: sound metal, true tracks, and tension held right.

So that's how we work. We name the parts properly, we get the balance right, and we don't call a snapped spring "a bit of a fault." It's a piece of steel under load, and it gets treated like one. Measured, not glossy. We'll have it running true.

Straight up, how it works

The form's the channel

No number to ring around. Tell us what's going on through the form and it comes straight to us, we come back to line up the call-out or the measure.

Every price is on site

Faults are a call-out then repair; new doors are measure-and-quote. We don't post prices online because the door in front of us decides them. No "from $" games.

Licensed where it counts

Mechanical work by a qualified garage-door technician; any opener mains-wiring by a licensed electrician. The right trade for the right part of the job.

Brands, honestly

We work on most major Australian door and opener brands and can colour-match Colorbond, described plainly, no "authorised dealer" badges we haven't earned.

Tell us what the door's doing

Send it through and we'll sort the right fix.

Repair, opener, service or a new door, describe it in your own words and we'll come back to line up a call-out or a free measure & quote. No number to ring around; the form comes straight to us.

Not sure which? Run the Tension Check and it'll point you the right way.
